Awarded the Jury Prize in Short Filmmaking at the Sundance 2012 Film Festival (see Fishing Without Nets), director Cutter Hodierne’s tale of Somalian pirates, co-written with John Hibey, can now be accessed online here: Fishing without Nets

An epic tale of Somalian pirates – told from their perspective – the short film humanizes a group of rogue men who have made headlines across the globe.

During the award cerimony, Director Hodierne described the hardships of filming the short which included being held at gunpoint.

Hodierne stated that “It’s a sensitive subject that we wanted to tell with a real human perspective,” adding “We went to East Africa for a three week trip, which ended up being five months.”
